How To Be Happy: Gratitude

 

I’m not happy with my career.

I’m not happy with my financial status.

I’m not happy with my look.

I’m not happy with this situation.

Look familiar?Yes.Most of us will say that.Sometime we  heard our family members or friends complaining that life is not that great,no money,no one is there for them,life getting difficult,and so on.But most of us tend to forget we are in a better position compare to million people out there.There is an Indian proverbs saying, “we will not able to appreciate the importance of something until we lost it”.Be it love or things.Isn’t it so true?

Sometime god give us so many things.But we will still complaining it’s not enough or blaming god.Those who have so little live happily.But those who have everything still struggling to be happy.They still searching for happiness. Will they find it?I’m afraid no.The answer is very simple.Until they learn to be gratitude,they wont be happy with what they have.

What is Gratitude?

Gratitude is a form of acceptance and being thankful with what we have.A key component for happiness is by being grateful.We have to be grateful for everything we have in life.Usually we tend to get hurt when we compare our self with others and feeling jealous.We have to realize something important here.Nobody is better than you and neither you are better than anyone.Everyone is unique.Everyone has their unique talent.When we accept this fact and be grateful for what we have,then happiness will follow us.

A true story:

I like to share a true experience that I came across.Five months ago I was watching evening news at my house.At that point I was emotionally down and not happy with the way my life is shaping up.I feel like nothing is good about my life.The I saw a news about Myanmar attacked by Cyclone Nargis.There was a video playing,hundred of children’s running behind the track which bring food.This children chasing the track from behind and food is thrown from the track.3-4 years children chasing the track and collecting the food thrown to them.Looking at this video itself make me shocked.I never came across such situation.Without my realization I was thanking god for give such a good life.I was thanking god for everything HE gave me.At that point i realized happiness is not in what you don't have.happiness is with always with you.Once your realize to be gratitude,you will find the happiness.

How to be grateful?

1.Keep a gratitude journal.List everything you gratitude for and update your gratitude journal everyday.

2.Begin your day by thanking God for giving a new day.Start your day by thinking of things that you are grateful for.

3.Say thank you to everyone.Practice saying thank you to everyone who help you or doing you a favor.You can say thank you to the waiter at the restaurant where your normally have your lunch or to your office boy.Start with someone and keep the thank you list grow the all day.

4.Keep smile and be thankful when thing goes your way.It’s not only make you feel lighter,it also give significant positive impact to the people around you.

5.Express your gratefulness in word.When someone do you a favor,tell them you are grateful and appreciate what they doing to you.Nothing is more powerful than a word from a genuine heart.

In conclusion

Be grateful for everything that you have.Be grateful for everything that happen in your life.By being grateful you are giving yourself a chance to be happier.
